Yes - one of the features I like. You can also turn off display by pressing the stop button when finished. So beeps and display can both be turned off. There is also a little button/latch on top (inside of handle). This is so nice because the microwave doesn't slide around the counter when you open the door. Something I didn't know until I unboxed at home. I really appreciate these three features. It also fits my 10-1/2" and smaller plates for reheating. In all honesty I try to reheat stovetop/oven as much as possible (but still have the ability to use microwave, if needed). This size is perfect for my household.
