“2stage child lock ? How do you unlock it then and can you permanently unlock it ,? Stupid feature if you don't have potatoe brains running around. Even then, it seems uneccessary. Please tell me there's a way to disengage the lock long term ?”

MW out of the box has the feature off. So you do not have to even read the manual unless you decide you want it engaged.

To unlock the 2-stage child lock on your Insignia™ - 0.9 Cu. Ft. Compact Countertop Microwave, press and hold the "Stop/Cancel" button for about 3 seconds. Unfortunately, this safety feature is designed to be reactivated each time for safety reasons, so you'll need to unlock it whenever it's activated.
