If you want your Apple Pencil to stick to your iPad, I would recommend the Apple Pencil Strap from Insignia. It doesn't use magnets, but it's easy to strap onto your iPad when not in use.

I bought the very inexpensive accessory that slides on the pencil and the cap and keeps them together. Had I not bought this I’m sure I would have already misplaced the cap
