“Can you charge the battery while it charges the headphones? Often times these "external" batteries use the same port to bring in a charge and to charge another device. I would like to be able to plug the headphones into the battery and zip up the case while both the battery and the headphones charge up.”

That is not a suggested use, as only one USB port on the battery should be in use at a time.

You may stress the battery by initiating current and also expecting it to output current. If it melts, becomes too heated or explodes there could be serious damage to you, your device and anything in the vicinity.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Not recommended. It is not recommended by any battery manufacturer that I have seen. Also, I believe that it would be very hard to fit the micro USB and the USB output together as the ports are very close.
