“I only want to use batteries so can this clock run on batteries only?”

• I believe the instructions state that the battery is only used when power goes out so you don't lose the time on the clock.

It requires a plug-in power source to function normally, including displaying the time and using the radio or alarms. The batteries are only for backup, meaning they preserve your time and alarm settings during a power outage, but the display and main functions will not work on battery power alone.
