• Make sure your at 30fps. This isn't 2.0 so it won't do 4k at 60fps. I had same problem. It will do 1080@ 60fps.

• I would start by checking the display settings for connecting to an external monitor.

• Signal loss in the HDMI cable could be a possible cause of the problem. I would try another HDMI cable that you know to be good to troubleshoot the problem.

• You might not have the right configuration for the needed accessory. some accessories require a certain bandwidth as in 1080 or 4k for resolution.
