If you were using display port output from your computer then yes, but if you were using VGA, then no.

(Blue Center) If your PC has an hdmi port than you can simple use an hdmi cable. If your PC has a spare Display Port connection then this adapter would allow you to use that DP port and an HDMI cable to connect To your TV
