It's very loud in my opinion for the size. Bass struggles when I turn it ALL OF THE WAY UP but anything reasonable sounds fine. Any shelf stereo system would probably give a better range of sound, it's only a 3" speaker. It sounds better than an iHome if you need something to compare it to. I do like that I can plug in via USB and use my iPhone while still connected and charging. It's a neat device overall, very pleased and probably the best nightstand clock-radio for the price point.
