Yes it works for the new 5th generation kindle.

Amazon has offered multiple 7" tablets and they all have very slight measurement differences. The only way to know for sure would be to test fit it. Best Buy does have a 15 day return policy that will allow you to return/exchange the case if it does not fit perfectly.
