Most TV’s don’t have a lot of audio out HDMI ports. My guess is, that if you happen to have an HDMI “out” on your TV, you might be in luck. This is highly unlikely and most HDMI outs are meant to take images and audio, hence the purpose of this device. Who knows, maybe your TV will allow for this, but you should look for audio converters and not video/audio converters, I don’t know the type of inputs and outputs you have for this older sound system, but this is HDMI out to RCA in, which you would then in turn transfer to your sound system... but there are audio converters out there that might do a better job. (Don’t know which ones to recommend off the top of my head, sorry)
