Yes it is. It is IP68 resistant. This means you could drop it to 5 meters or 16 feet of water for an hour. I swim with mine at the lake. I always keep boat keys in my pocket since it is the water pressure deep down that truly hurts them. I love these things!

Like other Apple devices they are able to assess if it has been dropped in water most likely due to a dye that is released with in the internal parts of the tag.Also since this is a third party accessory there is no liability for a customer’s accidental mistake in exposure to water even if briefly.
