• Yes, I use it almost every weekend with my class. It’s connected to my projector that has a built in speaker. I haven’t tried it with a portable speaker to my projector yet, but when I do I’ll comment on it.

• Yes. It is a passive adapter. You need to be sure you don't need an active one for what you are doing.
