Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The point of a docking station is to be a bridge between a notebook computer and desktop accessories. If you have a docking station I would assume it has video out ports on it and you should be able to connect the monitor directly to the docking station. There are two factors in how you will connect it though. The first is you need to know what video ports are available on your monitor and second would be the video ports on your docking station. The easiest set up would be a monitor that has the same port available that your docking station has. These days the most common ports for desktop connections are going to be HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort (full size), and VGA. The mini version of DisplayPort would normally only be used to connect a notebook directly to a monitor, not generally through a docking station. Now, it may be that your docking station has Mini DisplayPort, and if it does and your Dell Monitor has HDMI, then yes, this device would work in that situation.
