Yes, you can use it in extended mode and no you do not need to download any drivers.

I didn’t have to download any drivers and was able to extend or duplicate my screens to a tv.

No you shouldn't need to install any drivers, and yes you should be able to use monitors in extended mode no problem.

I was using a computer with Windows 10. Drivers were integrated into windows. No additional drivers were needed. I did run this in Extended mode without any problems.
