It stores the Ice in a basket when the basket if full it stops making ice until the ice is either emptied or used. If used at a party for instance it will just keep making ice continually as its being used. The ice will melt but the water will be recycled into more ice. I just empty it into a container in the freezer for later use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can leave ice in the basket, but it will eventually melt back into the water reservoir if not removed. (It’s not a freezer.) But if you leave the machine on, it will continue to make more ice as long as the basket isn’t full and the reservoir isn’t empty.

I left it on overnight once and the ice in the basket was in the process of melting when I came back to it. I bag it and throw it in the freezer. But in general, I’ve had mine for 2-weeks and am satisfied that I don’t have to lug a 20-lbs bag of ice home every week!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It says in the manual it's not a freezer so the ice will start melting right away but I've found that it's cold enough to maintain the ice for awhile. It will reuse the water from the melting ice to make more so it will continue to fill.
