• I use filtered water only. And I use a ice machine cleaner I purchased on Amazon

• I bought a cleaner to break down minerals because I did not read the directions and was using bottled water instead of distilled water. I can not think of the name of the product. But it worked like a charm and no more problems with my ice maker.
