“Will this battery work with the cover that come with the controller or will i have to get one with an opening?”

• I have an xbox one x and the battery is compatible with the controller cover. I have not had any issues with it not closing. It also fits the elite controller. At first it may seem a little snug but it will open and close with no issues.

• You don't need to replace the cover, it works good with the one on the xbox one controller.

• I just bought one of these and the regular cover will not go on. The product picture shows why- the little plastic area that sticks out prevents it from closing.
