Hi Bernie! Thanks for purchasing our Insignia™ - RF Wireless Over-the-Ear Headphones. It is recommended to turn off the headset before putting it in the tower, but it actually has automatic shutdown capability when there is no audio input in the docking station for 15 minutes. Additionally, you might need to charge the device for 2-4 hours to fully charge. Charging it for too long or overnight is not advisable as it might damage the battery.
