“If I had a receiver on the 2nd shelf, and wanted to adjust speaker wiring and had to pull the receiver out, will the shelf slide, or can I pull the receiver out without worry? Is there a middle support down the front middle? can't tell in the picture.”

Shelves do not slide. If you pulled it out, the shelf would probably tip over
