“Is it okay if you only have 1 lock screw attached from the bracket to the post? I can't for the life of me get the second screw in because the holes don't line up properly and I don't have a clue how to fix that”

If the holes don't line up, it's one of two problems. You either inserted the post into the base incorrectly, or the holes were drilled incorrectly. Remove the post and re-insert, look for the location of the holes before you do this. If the holes have been drilled incorrectly, I would exchange the TV stand for a new one. The post and base are supporting a lot of weight, and you do not want any shifting or slippage. It could cause your TV to fall over.
