There are 2 different models that Insignia makes. The more expensive model has a built in battery. The cheaper one does NOT have a built in battery. I have the cheaper model, which is the one I am reviewing, and it does not have a built in battery therefore it shuts off. Sounds like that may be the one you have.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, Thank you very much for taking the time to review our Smart Speaker, we want you to fully enjoy it. Please plug the speaker to the charger and before unplugging it make sure the battery is charged by pressing and holding the top surface buttons at the same time for two seconds. If the battery is 100 but when you unplug it from the charger still goes off, I strongly suggest to take your speaker to your local Best buy store along with your purchase receipt to take advantage of the one year warranty we offer for it.
