“How do display the time and do voice commands? Not sure how to connect to wifi as this is not indicated in the directions. I have the google home app and it plays music using the buttons but nothing else and it won't follow my "hey google" voice command.”

You have to setup a new device in the Google Home App. If you can't get it to work you may need to do a factory reset then open the Google Home app and look for the new device. It should be displayed near the top of the screen.
