How can pairing mode be disconnected? I need to be able to use AUX cable and pairing mode blocks that function. And pressing/holding the phone button per the instructions doesn't work. null

You probably have to do this on the device-end. Remove the speaker as a paired device.

Try turning off the Bluetooth function on the device you paired the speaker to. Hope this hepls.

Turn it off or disconnect it from your device. 
Go to SETTING, Bluetooth, look for the name of the speaker, tap disconnect or off as so in your device. 
Or use a pin to pin in the little hole between the usb port and aux input for a few seconds till disconnected.

Turn off your bluetooth then it won't pair.

You unpair from your device. When you go Bluetooth you should be able to accomplish from there.
