“I have a GA-H170 motherboard (with Intel i3 processor) and its specs say it supports Intel i5 processors but it also says "in the LGA1151 package" will this product work with my motherboard or can you suggest the highest level replacement it would accept?”

The 9600k will not work in that motherboard. your motherboard will take a 6th or 7th generation intel CPU. You need a cpu that starts with a 9 or 7
