• TurboTax is good for 1 year. Each year the rules change so you would purchase a new version of TurboTax. 1 state is usually included with the purchase.

• Since there are tax law changes every year not only do you need new state purchase but also new federal. The 2016 product won't handle 2017 tax year properly.
