I haven't moved it since I mounted it, so I can't speak from experience about it, but It doesn't appear to me that it would likely leave any residue behind that couldn't be easily removed. The instructions say it can be removed and remounted. It holds very securely with a tacky/sticky suction cup. The instructions say that if you choose to remove it, just give the suction cup a rinse and it can be mounted again.

iottie uses a very sticky almost gummy suction cup that can adhere to most everything. Move as often as you like just wash it off with some water and 
dish soap then restick. I have several of these one in each vehicle including my work van and LOVE these cell phone holders.

You can move it because it has a little lever that gives it suction. However there is also a sticky part to the base, so I wouldn’t move it a lot.
