When a Roomba 690 begins to return home to the Home Base it will not stop and go directly to the Home Base, instead will begin searching for the signal the Home Base puts out. While the Robot is searching for the signal it will continue to clean as it moves. The signal extends 6-8 feet from the base, once the Robot captures the signal it will begin the docking process. In some homes the Robot may move far enough away from the base that it can take a longer time to make it back to the Home Base quickly. Some times it may not make it all the way back. If your Roomba cannot dock from 5-6 feet away from the base we would recommend reaching out to our Customer Care team where we can better assist. You can reach Customer care by phone at 877-855-8593.
