• it will clean tile, I just wouldn't use this as my ONLY vacuum....I sometimes dust with my vacuum, or reach behind things....This IS a great complement to an existing vacuum.

• It cleans both very well. However if you have any really thick rugs on your floor it may not want to climb over their edges to get on top of the rug.
