As long as you set up your Roomba e5 on your hot spot and it is continuously connected, you will be able to communicate with your Roomba e5 via the iRobot Home App on your smart device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The first few times I used it I didn’t even bother loading the app, I just pushed the button to start the Roomba. I did eventually get the app, and find it relatively useless. No big deal if I get my device and start the cleaning or just push the button on the Roomba. And if the history of when I vacuumed is a plus, I just can’t see it. All my life I never needed a list of when I vacuumed! That said the Roomba is a great vacuum.

The app doesn't care where your wireless internet comes from, but a potential problem is hot spots traditionally lack the range of wireless routers. You may need something like a mesh router system to extend the range throughout your house. Not a bad idea for all your browsing anyway!
