• Yes, it will not fall over the edge of a top stair.

• My machine (and i6 model RVB-Y2)It does have "Cliff Sensors" to detect drop-offs. I think that means it will detect stairs. It that's a problem, iRobot does have a thing called a "virtual wall" (an add-on extra cost item) that will make the vacuum think there's a solid wall or closed door so it avoids anything beyond that point. I'm not sure if we have the same machine.

• Hi BrianJ, yes! Roomba i6 has stair sensors, which we refer to as "cliff sensors", and their purpose is to keep the robot away from stairs and cliffs, preventing them from falling.
