Does this vacuum work on high thick shag carpet? null

I guess it depends on how thick the shag is. I have a thick shag rug it cleans. It definitely works harder to clean that rug, but it does clean it and it is able to ride up on to it. If a rug is too high, it will trip the bumper and think it is an object. And clean around it.
