iRobot Roomba vacuums can operate even with simple ambient light, but not in total darkness. What may help with either the i7 or s9 robots is to run a training mission and/or clean your floors with the closet light on until your floor plan map is complete. You can then label the closet as its own room so the Roomba can recognize it going forward.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My Roomba 960 will operate in almost total darkness. It vacuums the entire upstairs with just three night lights (1 on each bedroom and one in the bathroom). It navigate really well like this
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My S9 enters closets without the lights on. We run it in the daytime, with the closet doors open, so there is some light in the closet coming from the open door, but it's pretty dark in there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It uses cameras to navigate so will do a slower and less intelligent job if there's very little light. It will still enter dark rooms.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Roomba does not do well in darkness. As a matter of fact, even low light can make it get lost. It's not hard to turn on a light or so -- doesn't have to be full bright.
