“The first day I used this both monitors worked. The next day my computer (HP) would not detect them at all no matter what i did. I tried to download the driver but an error came up and said "access is denied". What is going on??”

Right, I think the driver would come up automatically for you. Go to systems update when the device is connected and search for update. Make sure the two monitors are connected even though the display is not working, just ensure they are connected, in that way, they drive might automatically be detected and downloaded.
