“Do you need to download any software for this or can you simply plug the HDMI cords into the adapter and it should be able to extend displays? This is for work an would prefer not having to download anything additionally.”

The JUA365 does indeed require a driver to be downloaded and installed in order to function properly. I didn't have to download anything. I just plugged it into my Lenovo work laptop but audio did not work when I would join a Teams or Skype call. I had to disconnect the dual HDMI adapter.
