There are two USB-C ports on this adapter. One (with attached cable) plugs into the laptop/tablet and is used for both data and power. The second one (plug only) can be used as either a data passthrough or to attach an external power source (highly recommended). The USB-C ports support PD-3.0 power delivery and data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps.
