“How do I know if a device "supports the required Displayport Alternate mode feature"?? Is there a list of which do, or which don't somewhere, or general parameters so I'd know? (we have like 50 devices, I know they must have a C usb, & powered thu this)”

To know for sure you would need to check each device model with the manufacturer to know if it was configured to allow display out through Type-C. Most newer laptops and mobile devices are compatible with this feature, but there are still some that do not support it.
