For the JCD543 Triple Display Docking station it is highly recommended to have the power adapter for the device as well in order to provide more power to the JCD543 device in the case that you are using external hard drives and other high wattage devices. The power adapter is also needed in order to charge your computer via USB-C if your computer supports such feature.

There are to options for power. It can be powered by the USB C port or if your computer has USB C power you can feed it through the docking port and only use one of the USB C ports.
