500 cycles are what the batteries lifetime after that they will not recharge or not recharge to full power then you will have to get a replacement unit or replace the battery pack all rechargeable batteries have a similar lifecycle as low as 100 cycles to the highest I have seen is 1200 cycles

All of Jackery's portable power stations contains lithium battery, The life of lithium battery is 500 cycles. But it's not to say the battery only has 500 cycles life span. Among 500 cycles, the unit can exert its best performance. It would not perform its best after 500 cycles because of internal wastage.
