Yes. If you take one out it will work independently of the other while it’s charging. Then if you pull the other out it will take a second for it to connect and then you can use them both at the same time again.

So yes if they're already paired to your device they can be separated and used independently but if you lose one and then your device for some reason is wiped clean of all your data you cannot reconnect them to your device without both
