what do you do first in setting up the JBL Charge 3? null

Press the bluetooth button on the speaker then look for it on your phone or tablet to pair up. After that it should pair automatically going forward.

You can use the CHARGE 3 fresh out of the box. Once the battery is drained, it will take 4.5 hours for a full recharge. The CHARGE 3's battery indicator would show you that it is fully charged if all 5 lights are solidly lit. If one of those battery indicators is blinking, that just goes to show that the battery is not yet fully charged.
