Is the speaker loud enough to play outside null

Yes!! It sounds great, too!! It is waterproof and it has already proven itself to be, after the sprinklers kicked on and not realizing it!! I did find the audible book narrative voice resonated even better when I had it set in a cove/corner (approx 10 inches, not deep) and weeded around a different corner. Wiped dust off, recharged it in 4 hours and was back the next day, in the garage. It is easy to turn down with your android volume buttons, easy to talk with others as it plays. It has outlasted me, every day!! Hope this helps you decide..
