Will this speaker sync up with a charge three? null

No. It will work with other JBL speakers that were released around the same time. (I.e charge 4, clip 4,extreme 2 and etc/ charge 5, clip5, extreme 3 and etc.) The JBL Connect app can tell you more.

Yes it will have an old beat up charge 3 and it links up just fine

Our JBL Charge 5 will not sync up/pair with the JBL Charge 3 since they have a different connect feature.
