Thanks for your question. Our JBL Clip 5 makes a sound when turning on or off. However, you have an option to disable these feedback tones through the JBL Portable app to keep it silent when powering on or off.

When you turn it off yes it will play a preset audio clip all JBL’s play the same one, if you want to take a listen I’d pull up a YouTube video again thought only plays when you physically turn it off.
