The reason for this is a limitation of all Bluetooth technology: Bluetooth signals cannot travel reliably through water. When the earbuds are submerged, the connection to your device (like a phone) will be interrupted, and the audio will constantly cut out. So, while the earbuds won't be damaged by the water, you won't get a stable listening experience. They are perfect for intense, sweaty workouts or running in the rain, but not for use while swimming.
