The tap feature is pretty sensitive I agree. However, any headwear like a hoodie that moves around will interfere with tap feature headphones. I would suggest stabilizing your headwear with a fitted hat or purchasing this brands headphone without tap feature. I used to own those and loved them.

From my experience it's a malfunction. I sweat easily and I accidentally pause music or turn off ambient mode when I try to dry my face on my shoulder not when I get close.
