“Can you listen to just one while leaving the other in the case?”

You can listen to the right ear while leaving the left ear bud on the case. Alternatively, you cannot use the left earbud alone as it's dependent on the right earbud.

Kinda the right is how they connect so you can only use the right order both but not just the left

Yes actually you can. I’ve only tried it with the right side. I’m. It sure if it’s interchangeable.
