Yes. There is a play/pause button on the speaker. If you press the play/pause twice it will skip to the next song. There are also volume up and down buttons on the speaker.

No. You can only pause and play directly from the speaker. One option that is REALLY convenient (at least with android phones - I don't use Apple products) is Google assistant does allow you to use voice commands. Hope this helps.
