Better answer would be 100 watts while plugged into an outlet and 70 watts when on battery power. Since you cannot achieve 170 W total because the unit cannot be played in AC mode and battery mode simultaneously.

The JBL Xtreme 4 delivers a total output power of 100 watts when plugged into AC power . This is an increase from the Xtreme 3, which provides 100 watts RMS (2 x 25W woofers + 2 x 25W tweeters.
In battery mode, the Xtreme 4’s output is reduced to 70 watts (2 x 20W woofers + 2 x 15W tweeters.
