I used to have the ones apple makes and while I'm not an audiophile I don't notice much difference in sound quality. They are rechargeable; the case has a built in usb cable so you can charge the case and the case can charge the earbuds. I use mine in the gym all the time and they are plenty loud enough...volume can be easily adjusted by pushing the button on left bud to lower and on the right bud to raise it. Long press goes to previous track on left and next track on right. There are other control options as well.

You will also enjoy rich, clear sound, at a volume suitable for the gym. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not a huge fan of Apple. What I can tell you about the Jbuds is that they sound quality is amazing, definitely loud and will drown out the ambient sound as they are semi sound cancelling. When I put them on and listen to my music, I can't hear my surroundings. The only down side is if you have small ears...I find that they are not as comfortable when using them for long periods of time. My ear would start hurting after about an hour of having them on. They do come with some rubber type of padding you can put around the buds that will help with the comfort but will in turn make them a bit harder to fit on a smaller ear and hurt even more instead of helping.

As far as are they "just as good," that's an awfully vague question without much criteria to judge by. I'd say they sound better and have better controls and look better. I don't know if they're of the same quality. They're certainly much "blacker" than the Airpods. They are rechargeable and have a little case that recharges them that has a USB Type A male connector. I couldn't speak for durability "non-stop" in the gym as my gym experience is likely different than yours. Most people do some yoga, run a little, lift some weights. I do that too, and add hitting the speed-bag, heavy bag, and full-contact sparring to my routine, so they may hold up for your routine, I doubt they would for mine. My gym has loud music that plays because earbuds or headphones of any type would be problematic. These are certainly loud enough for a gym, though.
