Understood -- thickness. The two grips that go on the sides of the phone extend 13 mm above the level of the bed, but they curve over to grab the phone, and the inside dimension is only 10 mm. The mount won't have a positive grip on your 28-mm thick phone. If you can't find a thicker mount, I suppose you might try to cut grooves in the sides of a phone case for this mount to grab onto. Or augment it with rubber bands.

The clamp and curve part is made out of rubber, so it will hold it in place if you are not moving around with it, but it may not be worth the risk to hold such am expensive item.
